The Fresh Start Initiative, a community project of Celebrity’s Barber College in Bellingham, Washington, provides free haircuts and essential hygiene supplies to people who are unhoused or living on low incomes. These services help people meet everyday needs with dignity and approach job interviews and other opportunities with greater confidence.

Fresh Start’s free haircuts for people in need are by appointment only. "Please Call to arrange an appointment using a voucher” for this service. Phone:

Our nonprofit's operating days are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am-6:00 pm

Non-Profit

Our work is strengthened through partnerships with Lighthouse Mission, Opportunity Council, WorkSource, and other local community support organizations. These partnerships help us reach individuals who are working hard to move forward in their lives. These services help people look and feel their best while restoring confidence, dignity, and hope. Every voucher and gift bag is our way of reminding someone that they are valued, cared for, and supported by their community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to restore dignity, confidence, and opportunity through grooming, hygiene support, and direct community outreach.  Along with haircuts, we distribute Fresh Start hygiene gift bags filled with essentials like soap, deodorant, socks, toothbrushes, combs, and more. These items may seem small, but for someone facing hardship, they can make a tremendous difference in confidence and personal comfort. We also provide Fresh Start vouchers, which allow individuals to receive grooming services at no cost whenever they need them most — whether they’re entering a shelter, seeking employment, or transitioning out of crisis.
